The Peaceful Mind
Walking Into the Hunter’s Moon · October 18–25
There comes a point when you have to stop digging through your mind for an answer that lives in your heart.
You’ve thought about it. You’ve turned it over. You’ve had the conversation in the shower, in the garden, and at three in the morning with somebody who wasn’t even there.
Enough.
This week, as Venus moves toward her meeting with the Sun and Mercury prepares to turn backward, we are being invited to listen beneath all that commentary.
What remains when you stop explaining yourself? What do you know when nobody is asking you to prove it?
That is where we’re going.
And that is why this week’s Bloom Drop is The Peaceful Mind.
Two Zodiacs, One Earth
Here we work with both the seasonal zodiac and the sky of the constellations, including the Serpent Bearer, Ophiuchus.
The tropical zodiac follows the seasons, beginning at the spring equinox. Sidereal systems follow a reference against the stars; the thirteen-constellation sky also recognizes that the constellations occupy unequal stretches of the heavens. These are different ways of reading our relationship with the sky.
For this week’s teaching, we are looking at the conversation between the Scales, the Bull, and the Ram: relationship, worth, embodiment, and the will to act.
Who gets to determine your worth? What are you still carrying to keep a relationship intact? And whose authority is your warrior serving?
Those questions deserve more than a quick answer.
Venus Retrograde: What Are You Still Performing For?
Venus retrograde has a way of bringing us back to the places where we have confused being desired with being loved.
Where we have made ourselves agreeable so we would be chosen. Where we have given a little too much, explained a little too long, or quietly swallowed something we knew we didn’t want.
And yes, sometimes we have used our own charm to get what we wanted, too.
The Crone has lived long enough to look at both sides of that mirror.
She knows the pleasure of being admired. She also knows what it costs when admiration becomes the thing that feeds you. Eventually, you find yourself tending everybody else’s perception while your own life waits in the corner.
Venus asks us to look again.
Do I actually want this, or do I want to be wanted by it?
Does this nourish me after the excitement wears off?
Can I remain myself here?
Sit with those questions before rushing to make the answers more comfortable.
When Venus Meets the Sun
The meeting of Venus and the Sun offers us an image of going inward, of entering the fire and laying down the ornaments for a while.
The beautiful face. The agreeable woman. The desirable woman. The woman who can handle everything and never needs anything.
Who are you beneath all that?
You may find that you have less to say. You may want an evening alone. Something that once fascinated you may suddenly seem like an enormous amount of work.
Let yourself notice.
A quiet season gives you room to discover which desires belong to you and which ones you have been keeping alive out of habit.
You don’t have to manufacture enthusiasm to reassure other people. You don’t have to reach for the next shiny thing because an empty afternoon makes you uncomfortable.
Put the kettle on. Go outside. Let something reveal itself without dragging it into the light by its ankles.
Some things open when they are ready.
Mercury Turns: Must We Have This Conversation Again?
Then comes Mercury, opening the old correspondence.
The thing you should have said. The thing they said that you’re still trying to make sense of. The explanation you believe would finally make them understand.
Before you give another afternoon to it, ask yourself:
Has anything changed, or am I walking around the same tree?
There is wisdom in revisiting something when you have grown enough to see it differently. There is also a point when revisiting becomes a way of refusing the answer you already received.
Sometimes the answer was in what they did.
Sometimes it was in what they repeatedly failed to do.
And sometimes you understood perfectly well the first time, but understanding meant you would have to change something.
Be gentle with yourself about that. We sensitives often want to trust others as much as we trust ourselves. We keep looking for the goodness we know is possible.
There is nothing shameful about having wanted to trust.
But let the experience teach you. Add it to your pattern recognition. You don’t need to keep doing it until your forehead is bloody.
Mother Earth, Father Cosmos, and Your Own Front Door
We live between Earth and sky. We belong to the weather, the seasons, the light, the long dark, and the living world around us.
But belonging does not require us to take everything in.
Those of us who are sensitive need to learn that distinction. You can feel something without making it your responsibility. You can recognize that somebody is troubled without entering their life to rearrange it.
Your sensitivity does not give you permission to cross their boundaries, and their distress does not give them permission to cross yours.
This is part of becoming a wise woman: knowing when to speak, when to wait, and when to go home and tend your own garden.
The sacred space of the heart is where I return to make that distinction.
What is mine?
What have I picked up?
What am I being asked to tend, and what am I simply being allowed to witness?
You can care deeply and still close your front door.

A Peaceful Mind Takes Practice
A peaceful mind grows through the choices you make every day.
What you watch. What you read before bed. Which conversations you continue feeding. How often you abandon your own quiet to check what everybody else is doing.
You cannot spend the whole evening inviting the world’s chaos into your house and then wonder why you can’t settle down.
At some point, you have to put it down.
The phone. The argument. The need to know what happens next.
Leave a little room in your life where nothing is demanding a response.
That room is where you begin to hear yourself again.
The Bloom Drop: Peaceful Mind
When I make a blend, I’m listening for how the plants belong together.
The fragrance has to have somewhere to take you. An opening, a softness, a little earth beneath it. Something you want to breathe again.
Peaceful Mind grew from that conversation.
Lavender · Let the Dust Settle
Lavender is the grandmother in the garden who has seen enough fuss for one lifetime.
She isn’t particularly impressed with the urgency of your latest inner argument. She invites you to sit down long enough for the dust to settle.
There is a particular pleasure in her familiar fragrance: the sense that you can stop attending to everything for a moment.
Let the world carry on without your supervision.
Chamomile · A Little Tenderness
Chamomile is for the part of you that has been holding it together all day and would now like somebody to be kind.
Sometimes that somebody has to be you.
We can become so accustomed to pushing through that we forget how to offer ourselves ordinary tenderness. A warm cloth. A quiet room. Going to bed when we’re tired.
Chamomile belongs to that kind of care.
Holy Basil · Return to Your Center
Tulsi has a sacred place in the garden and in this blend.
Her presence reminds me to stop leaving myself every time something outside me becomes unsettled.
The world can be loud. People can be demanding. You can still return to the center of your own life.
You will probably have to do it more than once.
That is the practice.
Sweet Basil · Clear and Present
Sweet basil brings a green brightness to the blend.
There is a quality of attention I love in her: fresh, awake, uncomplicated.
Peace leaves room for that. You can be quiet and still notice everything. You can take your time and still know exactly where you stand.
Patchouli · Come Back to Earth
Just a dash.
Dark soil. Damp roots. The garden after watering.
Patchouli gives the fragrance its earth, a place for all that lightness to settle.
When you’ve been living in your head, something as simple as scent can become a reminder: here are my hands, here are my feet, here is the life in front of me.
Come back and inhabit it.
Mint · Open the Window
A touch of mint brings air into the room.
Take a breath. Open a window. Step outside before answering.
It is remarkable how many things become clearer when you stop staring at them from the same chair.
The Collection: Small Ways of Returning
I make these offerings to become part of the ordinary tending of your life.
A face washed with care. A fragrance at the wrist. A quiet cup at the end of the day.
Small acts matter when you repeat them.
Choose what you will actually use. Let it become familiar.
Order Friday so it’s in your hands before the Full Moon on the 25th.

This Week’s Practice: Stop Feeding the Argument
Before the week begins, choose one thing you are going to stop rehearsing.
One conversation. One grievance. One imaginary future you have been furnishing in exhausting detail.
When it returns, recognize it.
Yes, I know this story.
Then bring your attention to something living. Your breath. Your heart. The plant beside the window. The warm water running over your hands.
You may return to that story twenty times in a morning.
Return to yourself twenty times, too.
And when a message arrives that stirs you up, give it a little space before you answer. Read it once. Put the phone down. Walk around the garden.
You don’t owe anybody an immediate entrance into your inner world.
The Hunter’s Moon: What Will You Carry Forward?
The Hunter’s Moon brings us to a seasonal reckoning.
The harvest is gathered. The days are shortening. We begin to see what will sustain us through the colder months.
Take that question into your own life.
What actually feeds you?
Which relationships leave you with warmth after you’ve parted?
Which habits strengthen your days?
What are you carrying because it still has value, and what are you carrying because you’ve carried it for so long you no longer question the weight?
The Crone knows you can become loyal to a burden.
She also knows that setting it down may feel strange before it feels freeing.
Let it feel strange.
You are allowed to discover how you walk without it.
A Peaceful Mind Full Moon Ritual
Give yourself an unhurried evening.
- Begin with the earth.
Apply the Cool, Calm & Collected masque according to its directions. Sit while it rests on your skin. Leave the phone elsewhere. - Tend your face.
Rinse, cleanse as needed, and press the Peaceful Mind Serum into your skin. Feel your own hands offering care. - Prepare your space.
Mist the room with Peaceful Mind Mystic. Sit outdoors if it is comfortable, or by a window. The evening belongs to the whole living world; you don’t have to organize it. - Make your cup.
Tea, warm water, whatever suits you. If you use the Peace of Mind tincture, follow its directions. - Anoint and listen.
A little parfume at the wrists or over the heart. Rest your hands on your chest and allow your breathing to settle.
Then ask:
What am I ready to stop carrying?
Wait before answering.
You may receive a clear knowing. You may feel grief. You may recognize something you’ve been bargaining with for months.
Let the answer be what it is.
There is no need to turn the evening into another performance of how well you can heal yourself. Sit with what comes. Write it down if you wish.
Then have your supper. Wash your cup. Go to bed.
Let the wisdom have a life beyond the ritual.

Let the Quiet Teach You
There is a kind of wisdom that arrives after you have exhausted your argument with life.
You’ve asked why. You’ve looked for the lesson. You’ve considered every possible explanation.
And then one morning you go outside with your coffee and simply sit.
The garden carries on. Something needs watering. Something has finished flowering. Something you thought was dead has put out a new leaf.
You begin to notice what is here.
That is where I want to meet you this week.
In the sacred space of the heart, with enough quiet to hear what your own life is asking of you.
The Peaceful Mind Collection is this week’s Bloom Drop, waiting for you in the apothecary.
With a heart held open,
Narayan
